A Hindu national festival is not a single official term with one fixed meaning. Generally, it refers to major Hindu festivals that are widely celebrated across a whole country or by Hindus everywhere, and which have strong cultural, religious, and social importance.
These festivals are celebrated by most Hindus across regions:
Diwali (Deepavali) – Festival of lights; symbolizes victory of good over evil
Holi – Festival of colors; celebrates joy, unity, and the arrival of spring
Dashain (Vijaya Dashami) – Especially national in Nepal; celebrates victory of good over evil
Navaratri / Durga Puja – Worship of Goddess Durga over nine days
Maha Shivaratri – Dedicated to Lord Shiva
Ram Navami – Birth of Lord Rama
Krishna Janmashtami – Birth of Lord Krishna
